Officers responded to the Buttonwood Street Bridge on a report of a drive-by shooting around 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, West Reading police said.

Cops were met by the victim, who identified the gunman as 26-year-old Noah Martinez, of Reading, they said.

He told officers that the chaos began when the pair walked into an unnamed business on the 500 block of Penn Avenue. The two got into an argument and that's when the victim claims Martinez lifted his shirt to flash a handgun and threatened to kill him, according to police.

After that, the victim drove away from the store in his car, but Martinez wasn't far behind, police said.

Once they got to the Buttonwood Street Bridge, Martinez pulled up next to the victim's vehicle, pulled out the handgun, and fired one shot in his direction, according to police.

The bullet missed the victim, allowing him to flee and call the police, they said.

A search for the vehicle was launched, and Shillington police along with Cumru Township police, spotted Martinez and stopped him, authorities said.

A search of his car turned up a loaded handgun, ammunition, a holster and a spent shell casing, police said.

Martinez was arrested and charged with aggravated assualt, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person.

He was released form Berks County Jail after posting $75,000 bond, records show.
